Get to know Dana, a Comfort Medical Business Analyst and her furry friend, Chance.
Dana has been with Comfort Medical since July 2019. Her work centers around our system of record, ensuring patient data has a well-organized “home.” While she doesn’t interact directly with patients, she plays a key role in improving system functionality to support a smoother experience for both team members and the patients we serve.
Outside of work, she fills her time with family, reading, and her fountain pens. She and her husband, Shane, have been married for almost 7 years. Together, they share their home with their beloved dog, Chance, who’s always ready to steal the spotlight.
Dana, tell us about Chance.
Chance is a 13-year-old, 3-legged baby that wormed his way into our hearts in July 2017. He is a very good listener although he seems to be selective about when he wants to listen to us. Chance is very spoiled and there is very little we won’t give him whether it’s some tasty fruit off our plates or letting him snuggle in our bed. Chance came into our lives when he was about 6 years old after being a stray in Texas.
While he was a stray, he was hit by a car, and he ended up losing one of his back legs. Although he likes to act like the saddest puppy in the whole world, he is a pretty active pup! He loves to hang out with all the small children in our lives as they will pet him for hours and they generally taste like leftover food. Chance is a lover of all people and will eventually want to snuggle all 55 lbs. of his body on your legs.
What does Chance like?
Chance loves sunbathing! We call him our little Sun Baby! He will spend all day in the sun if he could. It powers him, makes him stronger, and very sleepy. We do have to put on doggy sunscreen to make sure his belly doesn’t get burnt.
Chance is the sleepiest of boys, he spends about 18 hours a day sleeping or napping. You always know when he’s comfy and about to drift off as he will sigh like he pays the bills. If his cuteness was currency, we would be rolling in it! Food – especially people food he’s not supposed to have. He is also our little opportunist and will try to get into the trash.
He is very smart though and will only eat food things, he does not waste his stomach space on non-edible items. Chance loves to take long walks where he can take his time taking in all the smells. Unless it’s cold, then he will go up to ANY house to try to get warm (MN winters are ruff for him).
Anything Chance dislikes?
Chance is very easy going and doesn’t dislike many things. He will become our little “grumble guts” when we try to cut his nails or if we bother him while he’s sleeping.
What are some fun facts about Chance?
Chance used to be a stray in San Antonio, Texas and has been very disappointed in the weather in Minnesota. He’s generally not very interested in other dogs but LOVES their people. He is so good at walking with 3 legs that most people don’t notice until we point it out. Chance has perfected the sad face; I imagine so everyone will feel sad for him and give him all the treats. He is, in fact, a very happy boy.
At Comfort Medical, we believe that happy, supported employees create the best experience for our patients. Whether it’s celebrating the special bond between our team members and their furry friends or fostering a positive work environment, we know that care starts from within.
